Skin types are classified into three categories: normal, oily and dry. - NORMAL SKIN looks soft, moist, plump and dewy and has a healthy glow and color. It has a fine texture and there are no visible wrinkles, fine lines or open pores. The best example of normal skin is that of children from birth usually until puberty. - OILY SKIN can be recognized by its shiny, thick and firm appearance. Pores look enlarged, the complexion tends to look dirty and neglected, occasionally with blemishes on the chin or the forehead area and feels oily to the touch. -DRY SKIN tends to be dehydrated. Its lack of oil diminishes its ability to retain moisture since oil in the skin acts as a natural barrier against moisture loss. Dry skin is characterized as very fine overly delicate and thin. In dry skin pores are almost invisible. The skin also tends to wrinkle easily and is often filled with tiny superficial lines.
Skin conditions develop over time and can apply to all three skin types leading to the many combinations that make everyone's skin unique. The most common skin conditions are dehydration, couperose, sensitivity, pigmentation, aging and acne vulgaris. Following are the descriptions of some most common skin conditions, that can be improved by using Nuvo Cosmetics products: - DEHYDRATION is one of the most common skin conditions. Dehydrated skin looks dry, scaly and flaky. It feels tight. Dehydration is aggravated by atmospheric conditions including too much sun and wind; not using sunscreen water; drinking tea, coffee, soda or diuretics; and not drinking enough water. - SENSITIVITY reactions are very complex and depending on the individual experiencing them. Because the chemical composition of each person's skin varies, this might be sufficient for one person to react sensitively to an ingredient while another may not. Climate, ambient pollution levels and the like also combine with the skin's own chemistry. This can produce a chemical reaction leading to a sensitivity by the skin, that manifests itself as redness, itching and burning. - AGING skin can be recognized by its poor elasticity, lack of normal firmness and sagging. It suffers an accentuation of lines and wrinkles as a result of increased dryness and dehydration caused by skin thinning and reduced oil gland activity. The complexion looks withered and assumes an "old ivory" shade as melarlin production diminishes. The aging skin looses elasticity, is unable to regulate water and renewal process.
